WARNER BROS. TELEVISION PRESIDENT PETER ROTH TO RECEIVE TV SHOWMANSHIP AWARD Los Angeles: Peter Roth, President, Warner Bros. Television, will be named 2008 Television Showman of the Year at the ICG 45th Annual Publicists Awards Luncheon Wednesday, February 5th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. He will be honored in recognition of his outstanding showmanship that contributed to the continued success of the company. “Peter Roth has an exceptional record,” said Henri Bollinger, Awards Committee chairman. “Under his leadership, Warner Bros. Television and Warner Horizon Television are producing a combined 31 programs (25 for the broadcast networks and six for basic cable) for the 2007-2008 season.” Among Warner Bros. Television’s new broadcast network programs are one-hour series “Pushing Daisies,” “Chuck,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “Gossip Girl,” “Big Shots” and “Moonlight,” as well as the half-hour comedy “The Big Bang Theory.” Returning broadcast network series include “Two and a Half Men,” “Without a Trace,” “Cold Case,” “ER,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Men In Trees,” “Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “Notes from the Underbelly” and “One Tree Hill.” Additionally, WBTV also produces several hit cable series, including the Golden Globe Award-winning “Nip/Tuck” and the critically acclaimed “The Closer,” starring Golden Globe Award winner and Emmy® Award nominee Kyra Sedgwick. Thus far, during Roth’s tenure at the Studio, eight series have reached the coveted 100-episode milestone: “Two and a Half Men,” “Cold Case,” “George Lopez,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Smallville,” “Third Watch,” “The West Wing” and “Without a Trace.” “One Tree Hill” is poised to reach that landmark plateau this year. Also notable is the 300th episode of veteran drama series “ER,” which is now in its 14th season. Past honorees include Les Moonves, Nina Tassler, Jerry Bruckheimer, Ted Harbert, Fred Silverman, Chris Carter, Steven Bochco, David Kelley, Norman Lear, Aaron Spelling, Garry Marshall, Grant Tinker, Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner, Caryn Mandabach, and Bob Hope, among others. More than 1,000 industry leaders are expected to attend the awards luncheon. Other awards to be presented include the Motion Picture Showmanship Award; the Lifetime Achievement Award; the Press and International Media Awards; the Les Mason Award, the highest honor given to a publicist; the Bob Yeager Award, which goes to a publicist in recognition of outstanding community service; and the Maxwell Weinberg Showmanship Awards for outstanding publicity campaigns of 2007 in films and television. # # # |
